Max Duckler
Chief Executive Officer
Max has worked in the television post production industry for over 30 years. He began his career in San Francisco as a videotape editor, but was wooed to the Northland by a big moose and a bag of wild rice, along with the offer to help build one of the country's first all-digital post-production facilities. While serving there as VP of Post Production, a little loon told him, "Hey, you better start a captioning company--and you better be sure you offer the best service and highest quality in the world." So he did.
Since starting CaptionMax in 1993, Max has grown his company from a one-man operation to a business that employs over 100 people in locations across the country. As CEO, he works with his executive team in sales and marketing, personnel development, and identifying growth opportunities. He is also highly active in decisions related to chocolate. As a leader in media accessibility, Max is a member of several boards and speaks at a number of national events and seminars on media accessibility.
Max is proud of the highly talented team that makes up CaptionMax's workforce and he looks forward to continuing to evolve accessibility services in television, the internet, and the classroom.
Max graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz, with a degree in, would you believe it?...Biology! - When he's not playing racquetball, sculpting metal, or teaching English, Max enjoys playing Scrabble with his wife, Suzanne; learning Chinese from his adult son, David; and getting tips on how to play the guitar on "Rock Band" well enough to not embarrass his teenaged daughter, Eva.
Max is a very active volunteer, serving the American Red Cross as a Disaster First Responder, a job where he puts his organizational and leadership experience, as well as his Spanish speaking skills to work in crises. Max is on the Executive Committee of the Seward Civic & Commerce Association, where he helps organize local businesses and neighbors to support each other and the neighborhood.
Max's Board Member role with the National Association of the Deaf's DCMP Advisory Board keeps him honest. He also volunteers collecting field data and monitoring lake water quality for the MN Department of Natural Resources, and collecting field data for marine mammal studies for his Alma Mater in Santa Cruz, CA. Counting animals comes naturally to Max who can often be found counting sheep during long teleconferences at the office.
